Plans and actions
Three tiers, what counts as an action, and what happens to your sites if you cancel.
The npm package and the companion plugin are free and open. What is sold is the hosted connector: the OAuth endpoint ChatGPT and claude.ai talk to, and the sites registered behind it.

What counts as an action
One change to your site: publishing, editing, uploading, restyling, a menu or navigation write, a site identity change, a comment moderated, a term created.
What is counted is what reached your site, not what the assistant was told afterwards. A call that changed something and then reported a problem — a revision that read back oddly, a featured image that could not be attached — counts, because the change is on the site either way. A call that deleted nothing does not count, even though it succeeded.
Nothing else does:
- Reads never count. Listing, getting, searching and site information are unlimited on every tier, including Free.
- A call refused before it reached WordPress does not count — a hash mismatch, a diff that would drop blocks, a policy refusal, a credential that cannot do it.
- A
dry_rundoes not count. You can preview a change even at ten of ten. - Validating blocks and listing abilities never count.
Running a companion-plugin ability is the one call counted whenever it reaches your site, even when it only read something. An ability tells wpreef whether it changes anything, and that is the plugin author's word rather than ours, so it is not what the allowance is based on.
The Free allowance is one-off and per site
Ten actions on your site, and they do not renew. They are keyed to the site itself, not to the row in your dashboard, so removing the site and adding it again does not reset the count.
They also survive a subscription. If you subscribe, use the connector for a year and then cancel, that site is back to whatever was left of its ten.
Why this matters
A monthly allowance would make the Free tier a trial with a clock on it. A one-off allowance is a tier: reads stay unlimited forever, and the ten changes are there to prove the thing works on your own site before you decide anything.
While you are on Free, the dashboard shows Actions 7 of 10 used on the site card, and
wp_site_info reports how many are left, so the assistant can warn you before the last one.
The eleventh change returns an error that says the allowance is used and where to upgrade.
Reads keep working.
Changing plan
Checkout runs through Polar. Move between Starter and Pro at any time from Billing; the difference is prorated, and the new site cap applies at once.
Cancelling and downgrading
Cancel from Billing. The plan runs to the end of the period you paid for.
When the cap drops — a cancellation, a downgrade or a refund — sites beyond the new cap are paused, never deleted. The newest ones pause first. A paused site keeps its settings and its credential; it just leaves the list the assistant can choose from. The dashboard names which sites paused and lets you choose different ones to keep inside the cap. Upgrading again un-pauses them.
A site back on Free is subject to the action cap again, with whatever was left of its ten.
Refunds
14 days, and the plan is revoked automatically when the refund lands. The details are on the refund page.
